Outfit: January 6, 2010
Today is… Fashion Friday (I just made that up; yay, me!) so I thought I’d show you my favorite outfit of the week.
This installment is brought to you by a cute hand-me-down wool skirt from Scarlet, and the WHERE Cara Brogues.
School’s started and I’m trying to subversively start a movement to get college kids to dress … well… better than they do. I guess that’s fighting against the masses, and we can talk about that later.
I wanted something sort of preppy looking and this skirt smacked of band uniforms. It’s kind of a funky short a-line with fun buttons down the front. When I un-tucked the sweater, though, a lot of the skirt was lost under the sweater’s length. Tucking it in kept the outfit trim and cute.
Let’s talk shoes: The WHERE Caras
WHERE’s brogues are comfortable and seem incredibly well-made. The shoes are only offered in whole UK sizes, and I’m somewhere between a 7.5-8 (US). I went with the UK 6 (a US 8.5) and noted that when you first put them on, these shoes run a little snug. Once you’ve worn them for a day or two, they start to conform and become less rigid. The only thing I could wish for in the shoes is a little more padding in the footbed for extended wear, but they’re not uncomfortable.
I think the outfit worked well – especially when I decided on the big chunky bright jewelry to offset all the dark items.

It’s amazing how the shoes actually look like brogues on with your tights! Do you find that they run narrow at all?
